energy_pressure_baleares
How much electrical demand does each Balearic island actually carry, per person really present (not per registered resident)? Tourism swells daytime population far beyond census figures - this measures real grid pressure against real presence, not against who's on the electoral roll.
Real sample — 2023, base year
Real IBESTAT/REE electrical demand (MWh) divided by real average daily presence (IBESTAT's Índice de Presión Humana, IPH) - not a synthetic estimate:
| Island | Annual demand (MWh) | Avg. daily presence (people) | kWh per person present, annual |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eivissa | 956,396 | 218,330 | 4,381 |
| Mallorca | 4,499,557 | 1,167,979 | 3,852 |
| Formentera | 68,418 | 19,444 | 3,519 |
| Menorca | 478,868 | 138,265 | 3,463 |
Eivissa carries the highest per-capita-present grid demand of the 4 islands - real finding, not yet explained (could be visitor mix, building stock, industrial base; not decomposed here). Source: IBESTAT, from Red Eléctrica de España (REE) data, CC BY 3.0, attribution preserved. This is NKO's own computed ratio (declared demand ÷ observed presence), not a figure either source publishes directly.
Method
kwh_per_person_present_annual = annual_demand_mwh × 1000 / island_avg_daily_presence. Real gap declared honestly: the source dataset does not split demand by residential/commercial/tourism sector, so this is total grid pressure per island, not a tourism-specific efficiency measure.
